Fruit & Vegetables
All the produce sold on this stall is grown locally and supplied by local people. If you are concerned about "food miles" not only has it been produced in Kent but mostly within a 5 mile radius of the Market. This means that we have a very low carbon footprint.
Our fruit and vegetable producers grow their produce for their own consumption many in their back gardens so they are careful about what they put on, if anything on their crops. The produce is picked the day before sometimes even in the evening before the Market if the weather is very hot to ensure maximum freshness.
Our main vegetable grower lives in Ash. This is supplemented by various smaller growers living in the Fawkham/Hartley area.
The main fruit supplier is Broomfield Farm from Meopham. More information can be found about this supplier at meophamfruit.co.uk. Again this is supplemented by smaller local producers, mainly from back gardens.
The Mushrooms come from Kentdowm Mushrooms situated in Fawkham, less than a mile away from the hall. More information about these can be obtained from kentdownmushrooms.co.uk.
